Building Resilience Success Stories

A basketball player decides to play in a pickleball tournament with his friends. On the third game, he feels a pop in his ankle while lunging to make a shot. He’s torn his Achilles. His tendon is repaired by a world class surgery and he connected with physical therapists who provide him with excellent care. However, the well-laid training and competition plans for the year must be scrapped. The Building Resilience approach allows him to design a plan that sets him up for success in achieving his goals, allows him to confront limiting beliefs and empowers her to excel in key areas of his life as he recovers from his injury.


A competitive trail runner sustains multiple ankle sprains on fast-paced descents. She typically is able to rehabilitation the injury with physical therapy, but this season she is having difficulty trusting the ankle. She has been offered surgery as an option, but she isn’t sure if she should just push on and learn an ankle brace or more supportive shoes. She is intent on running longer distances at fast paces and wants to make the best decision. By participating in the Chronic Injury Resilience Building session, she is able to work through all of her options and see how they align with her goals. She knows there are no guarantees, but ultimately feels confident in her decision having worked through the process with a trusted clinician.

 

SERVICES

Post Operative Building Resilience Building Session: During this 90-minute session, Meghan will collaborate with the athlete to develop a comprehensive recovery optimization plan based on a high-performance framework. The session’s objectives will be aligned with the athlete’s short-term and long-term goals.

Chronic Injury Resilience Building Session: During this 120-minute session, Meghan will collaborate with the athlete to develop a comprehensive recovery optimization plan based on a high-performance framework. The session’s objectives will be aligned with the athlete’s short-term and long-term goals.

Follow Up Session: During this 60-minute session, Meghan and the athlete will review recent progress and adjust the performance plan as needed.
